WATERFALL

Status : Concept

Waterfalls have often been a source of fascination. As something that is constant but also always changing, they have been interpreted as a metaphor for renewal and regeneration.

This proposal is a monumental kinetic sculpture which describes the ever changing fluidity of a waterfall. The artwork is composed of two rectilinear planes that distort as they move vertically towards the ground. They part to create an opening which allows the visitors to enter inside. The two planes are composed of thousands of mirrored plates which move on a single axis when the wind blows against them. This use of mirror means that the piece connects with the surrounding landscape through the creation of a surreal and ever-changing reflection. The inside of waterfall uses graduating colour to create a dramatic but more introspective space.
